Dance, passion, and cheekiness
Since the year 2000, around 60 women with no artistic training star in a dance, song and comedy show at a theatre located in downtown Buenos Aires. Rehearsals take place during the first half of the year, and their performances during the second half. These women, aged 50 and over, seem to be having the time of their lives. Even though the passage of time has left noticeable traces in their bodies, these women have the ability and emotional strength to step onto the stage and question the archaic concept of youth as a synonym of happiness. They dance because they have the right and desire to do so, and it is this yearning to do their best that fuels their passion.
"My ballet journey unfolds in two contexts: dance and life. I’ve always wanted my ‘partners’-this is how I see the students in my class- to feel at ease in both environments. Utopian as this may be, my wish is for them to live their lives fully and to become artists when they step onto the stage. It’s my belief that this path develops a bodily-kinesthetic, musical and acting intelligence that encourages our imagination to look for new ways of expressing itself. This results in a creative act that transcends any age-related limitations.’
