Solange Baqués was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1963. After obtaining a Degree in Political Science and Foreign Affairs, she came back to her passion, photography, which was inherited from her father.
Solange explores identities, place and heritage through memories and family albums. She intends to preserve through images, the stories and places that get lost as time passes. She uses various techniques to construct the images and invites the viewer to complete them.
Selected to be part of Yumi Goto's workshop "The Photobook as an Object", gave form to her book "Memoria Imaginaria". In March 2019, Solange participated in the Residence "Art in Origin" in Spain directed by Andrea Juan, Argentine artist. From March to May 2020, she was part of the group of artists in residence in Arteles, Finland.
Solange was nominee too participate in Open Buenos Airers and her oeuvre Paper Stories was selected to participate in FIG Bilbao 2022, International Print Making and Art on Paper Festival. November 2022. Shortlisted in XXXVII Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales, Azul and nominee in VII AAMEC Contemporary Argentine Photography taking place at the Museo Caraffa in Córdoba, Argentina both in December 2022.
Her oeuvre was exhibited in Albi-France, Rome-Italy, Brisbane-Australia, Spain, Buenos Aires, Tucumán, Salta, Córdoba, Azul and Mercedes in Argentina. She obtained several distinctions, had solo and various group exhibitions.
